Greatest historical event #4 hasn’t happened yet. That should send off sirens. How can it be a historical event if it hasn’t happened? Does Dan know the definition of a historical event? Exactly how big are the rocks in Dan’s head?
Through His Revelation, Jesus Christ provides the world with a graphic description of how this world will end. That ending begins with the appearance of a world dictator. Believers know him as the Anti-Christ. The world sees him as its Savior.
In this time, the world has disintegrated in every way: morally, economically, socially, environmentally. The deterioration has plummeted to its lowest point with no hope anywhere. The phrase ‘hell on earth’ has become reality.
Enter one man who promises to restore everything. He unites the governments of the world to follow him. But he has an ulterior motive. He hates Christians and Jews so much he plans to destroy them. That sinister focus brings the armies of the world to the valley of Armageddon, which is in northern Israel.
Jesus describes this situation in His Revelation: “And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs; for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty…And they gathered them together to the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon.” (Revelation 16:13, 14 and 16)
At this point, Christians have been ‘neutralized.’ The evil fury of the Anti-Christ is now concentrated on Israel. The situation looks bleak for that tiny nation.
This moment was predicted thousands of years ago: “Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us.’” (Psalm 2:2-3)
The Anti-Christ has the nations’ armies mustered in the valley of Armageddon. They are poised to destroy Israel. To their peril, they ignore Jesus’ words in Revelation 16:15: “Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.” This is an echo of words Jesus spoke when he walked the earth: “For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.” (Matthew 24:44)
The table is set for war. Israel is doomed. Victory is within the Anti-Christ’s grasp. Where is the Messiah the Holy Scripture promised?
Suddenly, the eyes of the thousands of troops are riveted upwards. The vast sky opens and Jesus the Messiah is there, filling the heavens: “And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.” (Revelation 19:11)
At this point, the Anti-Christ has lost, and his gathered troops will be destroyed instantly. An angel foreshadows the aftermath: “Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, “Come, assemble for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses….” (Revelation 19:18)
World War II was once noted as the ‘war to end all wars.’ This battle is the battle to end the earth as we know it, to end evil, and to herald the coming of the Messiah in all His glory.
Greatest Historical Event #4 is yet to happen. But when it does, the whole world will know, and every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all. The return of the resurrected Messiah—easily one of the four greatest historical events of all time. Make certain you’re on the side of the conquering Messiah.
