Indestructible joy is a joy that never leaves you. When you rise in the morning, you possess it along with your bedhead. Throughout your day, you bask in it just as you do in warm light. At night, you offer a prayer of praise because indestructible joy clung to you like static electricity. If you don’t currently possess indestructible joy, are you interested in making it a perpetual part of your life?
Perpetual joy exists because of seven qualities in your life. The first quality is most important: Do you know if your name is written in the Book of Life? The last event affecting the entirety of the human race is found in Revelation 20:11-15: “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of the fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. AND IF ANYONE”S NAME WAS NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE, HE WAS THROWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.”
Once a person is cast into the Lake of Fire, he has zero opportunity to know joy ever again. His eternal life will be filled with utter darkness, uncontrollable weeping, and constant despair and loneliness. Have you ever regretted an event in your life, wishing you could re-live that one moment in order to make a different decision? In eternity, the memory forever stamped in your heart will be the moment you refused Jesus’ offer of salvation. The thought ‘if only’ will dominate your mind forever.
Matthew 14:24-31 describes a time when the Disciples are in a boat as a storm rises up. Jesus appears walking on the water towards them. The Disciples believe they are watching a ghost. Peter challenges Jesus to verify Himself by helping him to walk out on the water to Jesus. Jesus says, “Come.” Peter climbs over the side and walks on the water towards Jesus. It goes well until Peter takes his eyes off Jesus. Verse 30 describes the panic: “But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’”
As soon as Peter focused on the storm rather than Jesus, everything fell apart for him.
Imagine if Peter had kept his eyes on Jesus and walked all the way to Him. Then they would have joined hands and walked back to the boat together. No doubt joy would have overwhelmed that scene.
If you desire indestructible joy becoming a part of your life, the first quality to make solid in your life is salvation. You must look to Jesus without wavering and genuinely heed Peter’s cry: “Lord, save me!”
Doing that solidifies your name in the Book of Life. When you pass from this life to eternity, you will know only glorious and perfect goodness in Him. You will be immersed forever in His love, joy, peace and goodness.
Furthermore, nothing on earth can ever erase your name from the Book of Life. No event here, no matter how horrible, would cause you to take your eyes off Him. Unlike Peter, you reach Him, and He takes your hand in His. Forever.
Is this something you desire? If so, please feel free to reach out to me. I’ve described a horrible future scenario for those whose names are not written in the Book of Life. Don’t allow that scenario to become your future life. Between the two of us, we can make certain your name is written in the Book of Life. Indestructible joy can be yours.
